If comfort is a concern the later car has adjustable reclining seats. Please correct me if I am wrong but the earlier one doesn't? Wrong my 94 4/4 & 97 +4 were reclining, my 2006 doesn't have reclining seats

@ChalleW: Seems we have decided you have to take the 4/4 The clincher for me when I was buying my Sport was that there was only about £2k difference between buying mine which was just 18 months old and and a 10 year old 4/4.

It's amazing that old Mogs keep prices up so high.
On the continent the present exchange rate may be one issue, but also UK preowned cars are not going for cheap...

A good point Roger, and often overlooked. In 2008 I had no idea that some seats didn't recline so I was lucky. Of course you can never assume that the seats are original anyway, but for me the two key issues, both of which I missed back then was the long door vs short door and the (folding and) reclining seats. There's also the ease of getting stuff in and out behind the seats too. Those who don't have reclining seats often find it a faff to keep sliding the seat back and forth (which isn't easy either!). My 96 +8 did not recline but, had a lever to release them and then they tilted forward hinged at the front, so you did not have to slide them. When I changed my car I rejected 2 Roadsters due to not having reclining seats. I agree with earlier comments and would look for a 4/4 with 1.8 Duratec with reclining seats, and I think by default it will have a stainless bulkhead, or a +4 with same.

Reclining seat were a cost option in 2011 when I spec'ed my plus4. I love my Morgan (with reclining seats) but it is a bit bonkers really that they weren't/aren't standard! The last car I had where reclining seats were an option was my Mk1 Escort!!
