Am halfway through. What a waste of the world's resources. A bit of your car melted into your personalised watch. The emperor really has no clothes on now.

i liked the suitcase - would look good on my Morgan. But probably cost more!

Mark Evans in subdued mode. I think I preferred his rebuild of a real E Type.

I thought the watch, it's case and the suitcase was just indulgent silliness, the car should have been enough

No wonder there is a bit of snobbishness about the car when it comes with irelevant affectations

Although I did like the steering wheel rotor on the watch movement !

I agree with Mike's views. The watch and case a bit of fun and hardly a waste of the worlds resources...the opposite really. When clients are spending that sort of money on a car, those little extras are expected and add to,the whole experience.

I wonder if it could give Morgan ideas? A watch in ash and alloy and a case in alloy and leather.....oh wait a minute they do....the Struthers watch and SP1 cases wink

Following C4's programme last night I have cancelled my order for one of the Jag lightweights.

If I want a hand built aluminium bodied car, I'd just get another Morgan.

It was amusing though watching Mark Evans, the presenter, going all giddy over a hand built, aluminium bodied and chassis car, painted in dark grey and with a dark red leather interior.

I am sure I have seen one of those recently

cheers

I thought the car produced was outstanding but I found the program a little uneasy to watch.

I must say I had mixed feelings from the programme. On the one hand to see a recreation of a beautiful car to such standards was great and I suppose when you compare the cost of a "real one" at c.£5m it's a bargain. What killed it for me was Lord March's comment that it was a "replica" and couldn't race at Goodwood or other historic events. It's one of those - most of the owners probably would never race them but it's lost it's value to somebody else that they couldn't.

I'll keep with the 4/4 Sport for now.

What point that was raised was that the "new" ones are built with 2015 materials (although the programme showed they were being built to original spec), however:
- #1 was rebuilt from the original car but with the panels flattened and remoulded - but the engine would have had a 201x makeover

- How many historical racers have numerous upgraded components within the driveline - inc engine components, reinforced pick up points, upgraded cages, etc etc
