Could definitely fancy one in a few years time - probably stick to my system of buying a nice, sorted, nearly new example.

You mean the common sense approach?

Then there will be the new mystery model with the smaller engine that is to be announced at Geneva 2016. Remember what the boss said, "Watch this space."

I totally agree with those who are waiting until the finished car is available to try.

Although I love the S1 Aero I'm glad I have an S3 overall, and don't have to worry about too many issues with the car...

I bought an M3W before they were in production, ended up with number 350 and it still has many issues that shouldn't be there but are. I'm afraid I won't be doing that again until the factory shows that they test things carefully. And after 106 years or whatever I doubt they're going to change anytime soon (and probably can't afford the sort of testing required).

Interesting to hear the front end of the new car is an improvement - I find this pretty good on my S3 anyway - so keen to understand what's better...?

I hear those who would rather wait until the finished car is available and I understand where you are coming from and normally I would be of the same mind.

I'm not however for predominantly three reasons;

1. Essentially, save for minor tweaks, the car is the SS/Coupe/S4 chassis which to all intents and purposes is tried and tested. Same goes for the front end. It is really only the rear in my mind that has changed and styling on the exterior and interior.

2. If there is anything majorly wrong with the car that really shouldn't be, it will be straight back to the factory and it will be put right. Niggles most can tolerate, poor workmanship nobody should.

3. Time. None of us are getting any younger and I want to have some fun whilst both my wife and I are healthy enough to do so. Read my catch line at the bottom :-)
