I have finally got round to taking some pictures of my version of a cooling fan it is based around an eight inch Kenlowe fan and is fitted behind the mesh grill, not as efficient as the factory option but is less intrusive and seems to work OK, operated by a toggle switch below dashboard.

Good idea, nicely implemented. My take on that approach, which you may already have seen of course. I found that the fan on the front of the faux grill got more air where I needed it (having first swapped the direction of the fan over, as per instructions);

Keep in mind that the factory shroud has a very important job of directing the air around the back side of the cylinders while the car is in motion and the fan isn't running. Without the shroud there is no air movement over the fins around the spark plugs while the car is in motion.

very nice job, clean work ...like it...could you post the exact specs and where to order the fan please. Could you already test the fan in skipfire mode, how does it perform?

This reminds me of the cooling fan I fitted to my Harley in Spain. Known as a parade fan, it forced air across the two cylinders preventing overheating during low speed journeys. It worked very well apart from the the fact that the newly created stream of blast furnace temperature air cooked my right leg!

Yes, this was explained to me by Mark Baldwin and finally persuaded me to go with the standard factory cooling solution (even though my engine had never gone into skip-fire mode). Also, it was surprisingly inexpensive at £125+VAT...

Did you fit the kit yourself?

No, it was fitted when the car was at the factory for Centa & chassis 'upgrades'. I don't think it's a DIY job because the ECU also needs to be re-programmed (it turns on the fan at low speeds and when stationary).

I guess it should be possible to just install the cowl & fan with a manual switch but I don't know anyone who's done this.

I have tested the fan in skip fire mode, I allowed the engine to warm up until it started to skip fire switched on the fan and within 30 to 40 seconds the engine cooled and ran in normal mode.
