Hi all: potential M3W owner here. Looking to see if / how I can fit an M3W into my 1930s garage (which of course also accommodates 2010s junk). Having problems finding the M3W width behind the front wheels - can anyone help?
Also curious as to the difference between PVC and mohair tonneaus? Pretty sure the tonneau I had in a previous car (Caterham) was PVC and that did the job fine...

Hi Paul, Welcome to TM. With standard exhausts at (2) it measures 47". The heat shields are about the same and at mirror tips (1) it is also 47". If space is tight you would probably want to push it in as all round visibility is limited. I have the mohair cover. It probably looks nicer and is available in the car colour (as pic) or whatever you fancy. The zip lets a little water in probably the same as the plastic one.

Careful! I've not got a five speeder but I thought they were wider. As far as I know, the mirrors are not the widest point of the car, the front wheels are.
Ring some dealers within range and visit one who has a five speed three wheeler and take your own measurements. That way, you can also sit in it, and perhaps get a test drive too.

Quite so, but PaulV specifically asked for the width behind the front wheels.
Thats why I included a photo of a '5 speeder' and measurement points (a) and (b) The tailpipes flare slightly but are no wider than the heat shields at 47". You are quite right, the wheels are wider but I suspect PaulV was able to glean that info from the spec sheet which will show maximum width. He only asked for dimensions behind the front wheels.

Ah, point taken. However, if things are that tight, my advice to take ones own measurements still stands.
I've owned two Morgans (still got the three wheeler) and both were bought before I had suitable garage space available. If one really wants a car, not unusual to do things this way round. If one uses the excuse, 'it would not fit in my garage', then I'd say one does not really want the car. Most of us can get temporary garage space from friends, so then the issue is either extending the garage or building a new one.

Another option might be to get a lidded trailer as a "portagarage"!
Its more of a case of how much junk to get rid of!
