Hi Jays, if the cylinder has seized then the drums will be hard to get off. I had this on Rosie. You need a piece of hard wood on edge of drum and firm whacks with mallet. Alternating each side, it should come off. Probably best to get new cylinder at factory in preparation, it's bound to be rusted up and seized.

Took the Roadster out this evening for a bit of braking practice prior to MOG15. It's getting easier but looks like one of my rear drums is binding I only had the brake cylinder replaced last summer as well! Tried to get the drum off and it just won't shift. Looks like it might be the Z4 for the event after all Jays hit the face of drum fairly hard with a soft mallet, for some strange reason the drum bounces off.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Tried that yesterday evening Ray....the mallet just bounced off! I took the car out for a spin this morning on mixed roads and lo and behold, the brake seems free and there is no heat in the wheel unlike yesterday. So....fingers crossed!!

Did it get put away damp or with the handbrake on? Perhaps rusted on and the mallet broke up the rust?

The handbrake is never used in the garage Richard. I suspect that there was some corrosion around the cylinder and with use it has freed itself. When I get time I'll try again to get the drum off and give it a good check over.
