Doe MMC make the bb or is that contracted out to someone? I am pretty sure they don’t do the casting but they might do the initial machining to install the bearings and gears.

The bevel box is supplied as complete unit by Quaife, they also supply the steering rack

even worse that a vendor manufacture sends a until that was "repaired"

A wire thread insert is a good repair and in some applications is done from manufacture as they are stronger than just tapping into alloy. It will have been done at Quaife, as Roger says, they supply the complete assembly to Morgan. They probably saved scrapping the casting with the insert.

I have used time-serts in areas where I have stripped out a thread. However, I would expect a piece from the manufacture to not have been repaired. It suggests whomever assembled the BB stripped out the threads.

If they put the inserts all the way around then you can be sure they won't strip out when you have to go in there again to fix something.
