After it taking Morgan 5 weeks to get the Stage 1 kit to my dealer they tried to fit it today.

The left hand pipe is over 1" too short so when the bobbin mounts line up the front of the pipe doesn't fit to the headers.

There is no mounting for the heat shield

And the coup de grace - the mounting bracket for the bobbin has about 1/2" depth which is less than 1/2 that of the bobbin thread. So the bobbin would need cutting to fit.

We didn't bother to look at the right pipe - they are on the way back to Malvern.

On the up side the air filter alone seems on first impression to make the engine a bit smoother.

Is this because there are so many slight variations in M3W chassis and other body dimensions, and they forgot to write down what yours is before it left the factory?

Keen to go for this upgrade but will continue to wait. However, the Krazy Horse version seems to be well engineered and highly effective from the several first hand accounts I've had... I'm leaning towards this one at the moment.

I doubt it.

Maybe the length of the pipe would vary but the lack of mounting for the heat shield and the c**ked up depth of the mounting brackets are simply unbelievable.
Then again, it is Morgan we are talking about so maybe I should have expected this hide

There is a reason that every car that leaves the factory is hand made and that is so that all the parts can be fettled individually and be made to fit, whether they fit or not, they WILL FIT.

I agree with respect to the length of the front part of the pipe - it's possible this could have been sorted with some adjustment of the header pipe - although it was so far out maybe not.

However, there were no mounts for the heat shield and the mounting brackets would not allow the threaded part of the bobbin to fit. Neither of these come under "fettling" in my book.

I was always under the impression that ' fettling' was anything up to and including making a brand new part that would fit, especially MMC fettling.
