Mine is same build time Plus 4 with new type engine - presumably you bought new seal that is better than fitted on factory supplied cap - where do you get these? As you can see engines are not my thing so i am learning via Talk Morgan!

Is the oil tank pressurised, I haven't really noticed any pressure when removing the cap.
If it is not pressurised then surely a rubber seal is not required. IF you dont screw the cap down hard enough , your front compartment soon turns a nice gloss black - had it happen .

My 2012 3W just has an o ring in the cap. Works fine. I bought mine privately with 1500 mls on the clock. Maybe the prevous owner had modded it. No flat rubber seal in place. Anyone else have the same?

It would be worth organising some sort of wire lock to prevent the cap unscrewing, when not tightened hard down, I would have thought. Easy enough to do,and could save a lot of anguish.
Lodge Baker, don't worry, your Plus4 GDi is OK just as it is, with its' Ford designed cap, these are the Three Wheeler oilcaps that are causing alarm.

Unbelievable yes but depressingly actually true. I cannot understand how Morgan can risk an engine for the price of a decent seal. Its bonkers and i can't print what i'd like to do with my dodgy seal, or rather where i'd like to stick it - i'll save that for my next trip to the factory. Shame on Malvern - its just good enough. Isn't a Ford problem Surely the cap is a standard Ford part that comes with the engine?

Should i be buying a Monza cap - please can u et me know where from? Think Automotive: this is a link to their catalogue.... Think They all fit over an internal thread, so fitting to the M3W tank may not be straight forward. You may need to fit oneof their flanged collars over the spigot on the tank. They are only a few miles away from MWS, who do the Morgan spoked wheels.

If the problem is over pressure in the crank case venting back to the oil tank then surely a more "correct" solution is to vent the crank case to a dash pot, next to the oil tank. This pot can be emptied into the oil tank from time to time. Like this: TankThe overflow to this can go back to the main tank.
