Is the belt likely to be changed? Unlikely, I'm on my 3rd sprocket but original belt. If MMC are sorting it out then push them hard for the steel sprocket (which do exist as I have one

I'm trying to get my worn ( and noisey) sprocket replaced but dealer isn't rushing it exactly...
He doesn't know of a steel sprocket - never heard of one he said but would ask the factory - I'm still waiting for a response.
Would MMC put an alloy one on and risk it wearing out again? What is the factory currently fitting to production cars?
How did you get a steel one? from Morgan? or another dealer? How much was it? cheers Andy, East sussex

How close are you to the warranty cutoff?

Good luck with that. Are you a Saint with Patience?

Yup. If it pushes the next replacement into non covered territory.

When in Panic, or in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout!
Loud, obnoxious and persistent. Morgan's choice of alloys was wrong and they should pay for their decision. The belt, if properly set up, should easily last for 100,000 miles. The sprockets should as well. This is material's technology and somebody went cheap. Bad mistake.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

And the counter argument is:
Yes, it is an upgrade. But an upgrade to an inadequate design which clearly is so as otherwise, failure would not occur in the guarantee period.
As a result, the upgrade is needed for the product to meet the reasonable expectations part of the sale of goods act.
I'm not a lawyer, but I cannot imagine this argument failing should (which it won't) it be taken to law.

I mentioned the steel sprocket to my dealer who services most of the west coast here in the U.S. He said it was the first he had heard of it it but would check on it. I heard back from him shortly afterward that "yes", there was a steel sprocket available, it just seemed that Morgan had not alerted anyone (including him) as to its availability....

There was a test release of (I believe) 6 steel sprockets.
I was lucky and my dealer nabbed one and swapped my alloy one.
At the time I was a sworn to secrecy but it does seem to be becoming general knowledge now.
As to whether MMC are changing the production spec, or offering a warranty replacement/upgrade - who knows!
