Such a shame that hardly a day goes by without yet another potential problem to be aware of and look out for. Little by little each and every new issue, noise, squeak or rattle detracts from what should be ( perhaps that should read, "should have been" ) one of life's, " I've got it at last " moments. For me at least, after all, it took a sizeable chunk of inheritance to fritter away on, when perhaps a lesser monthly mortgage payment would have proven more rewarding. As I say, such a shame.
A shame too that such an historic and revered institution, as Morgan undoubtedly is, can treat its lifeblood, namely us, the customer, with such an uncoordinated and, "do you feel lucky ?" approach. It would seem that too many of us aren't that lucky either. To me personally, in my line of business, my customers are of paramount importance. They have choices. Were I to let them down, however inadvertently, I would rarely get a second chance.
The massively varied response to, or even awareness of, many issues from the dealer network also astounds me. It is after all a very small and select band, with many on first name terms. I am an almost total novice when it comes to forums and the like, but even I have been able to get up to speed with the many issues very quickly. And thank heavens I have, or let's just say I may well have been the next to report problems with his oil tank seal. As with other previous issues though many dealers seem "unaware of any problem sir". Perhaps they need to start joining the forum.
I must say that so far my own dealer has bent over backwards to help where needed, even if he, on occasion, has also been unaware of issues that we all know to be besetting more than just the odd one of us.
There, done now, this post has been brewing and building for several months now. As I said at the beginning, such a shame that I even needed to consider posting, when all I want to do is enjoy something that should be about little else but pure joy and not a care in the world. The odd issue of course, but the experience to date.......

Stan sorry to see you're not having a great experience. I think the general consensus is that the M3W needs to be viewed as being more towards a motorbike and less of a car so requiring more regular attention. I can only comment that with my 4/4 it has so far proved utterly reliable with minimum of maintence required. As I think you are already discovering there is a wealth of knowledge and help from other M3W owners on here and I hope it settles down soon and you can enjoy the immense fun when driving it.

I think stantheman has summed it up so very well.
I for one think the forums are a great support and such a great resource that actually helps iron out the issues that do get in the way of what indeed should be pure joy.
I dont think Morgan treat their customers nearly good enough, my experiance of the dealer is patchy too , great lip service and words and very friendly but little action to resolve issues. As much as i love my M3W and i was thinking of a new plus 4 one day i dont feel so inclined to risk another Morgan purchase which makes me feel sad to admit.
After my oil cap issue and oil light on i am pleased to say after 100 miles the engine is in fine health with no knocking or anything nasty to report. A good spary of 3in1 dry lub with ptfe on the drive belt has stopped the high pitch scream it was making as the belt continues to eat the rear sproket and its actually a joy to drive again. Just so thankful we have other owners and a forum so we know we are not alone!

I agree with the 4/4 comment, but fully disagree that a (modern) motorbike gets pulled down to the poor quality and construction level of the M3W. I had 3 Hondas and one Yamaha before I changed to the M3W and I never ever had an issue with one of the bikes besides the standard service intervals and tires to change when they were used up. (Just got the M3W pulled in my garage because the cam belt disintegrated this morning) I purchased the M3W because I was not aware that someone with a reasonable name like Morgan would supply their customers with something faulty as the 3Wheeler actually is.

Can I ask, whats gone wrong with the car today? I'm fortunate enough to have been able to pay my mortgage off early and as I've always wanted a fun car, so after reading this forum for a couple of years, ...I bought an Aston Martin and I love it!! but I still have a terrible yearning for a M3W. Its an itch that wants scratching, but posts like yours do wonders for my bank account. so come on, tell us all about it.

@Pants "only" the cam belt broken, a common issue... Hope the engine is OK, the little beast should be back on her tracks soon. Driving the M3W is great fun. Greater fun than I expected. It's just annoying that its squeeking, rattling, and that it is not fully reliable. But: a MTW parking next to a new Aston Martin: it is not the A.M. to get the attention.

Trouble is as much as they go wrong and make awful noises and frustrate its still a car/toy/contraption that youll take out just for the sake of it. Its more fun than an aston to drive too on normal roads- they are infectious. A joy just to gaze at like modern art and a hoot to drive as well.

Pants, perhaps you need to be an owner already to understand what I'd hoped to convey. My fault I'm sure that you seem to have missed the point. In answer to your question, read the many and varied posts concerning the issues. I've had issues with my exhausts, my steering wheel ( on the third, sorted now ), and now after checking my oil tank cap ( thanks forum ) that issue to deal with as well. Oh, and my rear sprocket and/or belt has now taken to squealing like the proverbial stuck pig.
It is the anticipation/dread of," will I be next "that takes away that pure joy I naïvely hoped for.
And yet, as andymot so rightly puts it, you'll still take it out just for the pleasure of it. No wonder that pain and pleasure are considered such close bedfellows I guess.

I too think stantheman has summed it up perfectly Despite all that can go wrong going wrong, I love the 3W. I would like to love Morgan also. On occasion they have come good, however it is all very hit and miss and the "can we keep this a secret" mentality has to stop.

+1 The M3W is an amazing car which could be so much better with a little bit of common engineering sense and customer service. Maybe if they spent less time on EV3 and special projects they could take better care of their current clients. Having siad that they get under your skin and I wouldn't be without mine
