- an interesting fact (well,it is if you're sad like me! smile ) I forgot to add;on our Saab the indicator 'tick/tock' warning is made by and through the audio system.

Typical Saab over engineering - but it does work well thumbs

I never could hear the indicator of the engine anyway. Since I now have LED bulbs and a solid state indicator flash unit, it's completely silent.

Didn't bother the MOT tester one bit!

Andy, does your S4 Aero have a Canbus system?

My Plus 8 has an indicator sounder that works, sometimes. I want to make something much louder, but am concerned that adding anything to the system will cause the canbus system to have a problem.

Also, do you know where the indicator relay is? I can't find it in the massive electronics box, if it is there it isn't obvious.

Peter, just fitted one in my Roadster which has a Canbus system on the dash, so tapping into the indicator switching was not advised. So I tapped into each rear indicator feed and fed the wire into the cockpit and fitted the buzzer under the steering column, it works well, and only cost £9 on Ebay.

On the Plus 8 the Canbus system monitors indicator and brake lights to give a "Bulb failure" warning. Would this matter if I did as you suggest?

I'd put the beeper behind the rear pannel, closer to my ears than under the steering column!

Hi Peter, yes my S4 Aero have a Canbus system. The buzzer takes very little current and has not affected the system. I fitted 2 diodes, one to each rear indicator bulb at the back bringing a wire to the front of the mog. This is connected to the buzzer with a variable pot (20k variable resistor) this can be adjusted depending on the volume you want. The other side of the buzzer is connected to earth, I fitted buzzer and resister into a small plastic box and tucked it away behind the dashboard.
Hope this helps.

Do you not have big green arrows flashing away when you indicate?

You do... unfortunately it's not terribly bright and with the roof down is easily missed.

The issue seems to be that in traditional Mogs, the indicators don't cancel well. In my Roadster they rarely cancelled and it's easy to forget. In my 8 it's not a problem, they cancel 100% of the time.

My plus 4 cancels well and there is a built in squeak that warns me that they are on.

I wonder if the retina stabbers that are in my Roadster are quite different to the Plus8? I'll have to compare with Peters next time we meet.

Andy, it does indeed.

The indicator warning lights are, as Neil has said, bot very bright and the beeper so quiet as to be inaudible....
