I know its not Morgan's fault as they have just taken the sns price and added a margin but it seems a bit steep for four screws that are a botch by s&s. 20 is a strange price because it is just above the EU import duty threshold. When you consider how many have been sold, it's not small beer. Perhaps us on this side of the Atlantic could source a pack of 1000 imperial screws for that price and save a few Ł
im still thing of creating a scoop flange that sits between the standard cover and engine thus ducting air into the space and reducing water ingress without the ugly factor of a different cover. Could be inexspensive too.
Putting the bolt material and finish to one side , I can report after a very fast and varied drive immediatetly on stopping I can put my hand on the cover and it is significantly cooler than normal. I assume the gubbins beneath is as well, so job done. I will check for muck getting in periodically. Roll on the vented cover.
Last posting date was May so may I re-activate the thread: I get an new cam belt soon as mine disintegrated today! WeŽll see how they will mount the cover than...
Was just passing some cars this morning when the engine failed... Pulled over to the side, stopped and got my toolbox out to check the obvious. Behind the cam belt cover I found the problem.
Hope there are no further problems with the engine. Morgan Austria hopefully will collect the car tomorrow.
The picture does not clearly show the problem: at the lowest roller the belt is broken and misses teeth...

No, there was no air gap. Traditional setting with a gasket. I wonder if they will adapt it when fixing the belt. (I did not change anything as still under dealer warranty.)

Aside from the bummer of a tragedy that is a remarkably clean cam belt housing!
When I informed my dealer, via a picture from my phone while awaiting a tow, he promptly sent me a new cam belt as well as the new bolts and spacer washers to use to provide the air gap. Goodbye gasket. The front piece can be touched after a long run so the temps are under control.
My biker mechanic opined that he has seen more cam belt failures due to heat than anything else. The engine always stops at the same place and that is where the heat goes to the belt, at rest, and blisters it. Always the same place.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.
