I took my September 2012 build out today as the clouds and rain went away! I missed the July 4 parade as it was in the rain but also, in my mind, I didn't wish to speak to a crowd of people in the final parking lot about all the noises emanating from this contraption of bolts. My third sprocket is starting to REALLY make noise, the bevel box needs another change over with new oil, the compensator is making disturbing noises signifying a desperate need for grease! The engine is behaving as well as the trans.

All of that went away in the first ten minutes of my drive today. That is all that it ever takes. So I kept going.

So this is why I persist in having this car. Despite everything else, and I fully admit to all and sundry that I have bitched quite loud at times about being a Beta tester for Morgan, this car is a hoot to drive as well as being the center of attention. I did not know that I enjoyed that part of it as much as I do. I thought I bought it to drive it into the ground!

And apparently within MMC itself. It amazes me that exposed bolt heads have chewed up my fine expensive English leather seat bottoms. Do the craftsmen do not speak to each other ? As for the M3W, we each have to make the stay or go decision. Right now, all good. I do have a pronounced 'Messerschmidt Twitch' now, though ...

A man-in-the-know told me that Charles didn't want the M3W to go into production at all

I tinkered with the idea of a M3W a couple of years ago, was looking to move on my 4/4 and fancied the excitement that no doubt the M3W would deliver.....did a couple of fun test drives ....my dealer told me to 'stay away from them', 'I'll find you a nice Plus 4'....

That doesn't surprise me, I'm sure a dealer would prefer to sell a reliable Plus 4 than go through all the aggravation of constantly repairing a M3W?

my friends are laughing at me when i have to tell them that my car is again being repaired. 14 months out of 24 ownership. And most of the time has been waiting for spare parts being sent gradually (MMC must be a good FEDEX customer). I admire dealers for the patience they have dealing with the factory. Must be a nightmare. To be honest, great car when it works but put on the market way to quick and early adopters have to bear the consequences with very little sympathy from MMC.

I went to a dealer last year, I was only interested in a 3-wheeler. He convinced me that it was a bad idea despite having a few in stock (some of which are still in stock, 2014 models). I bought a 4/4 instead which has turned out to be an utterly brilliant and reliable car, in all weathers, for just a couple of thousand extra.

I still look at ads for three wheelers but then my brain kicks in ...

My late 2012 3 Wheeler has never broken down, but I've had a few upgrades. But original compensator, bevel box, engine, engine drive belt.

Replaced rear sprocket, and had comfort kit fitted last October.

Car running well but bevel box now noisier than it was before last service and seems to be getting slightly noisier as the miles go by. But that's the issue - because I'm so worried about the little wonder breaking down I am using it less and less and driving it short distances so it doesn't leave me stranded.

First year miles 2,900, second year miles 1,000, third year miles so far 450 and unlikely to break through 800 miles with mainly shortish runs so nothing gets too hot!

I'll probably persevere because it's a nice ornament and selling now would just crystallise the depreciation that is really quite severe given the running costs to boot. Has it affected my interest in staying a Morgan fan (I also have an Aero 8 for nearly 8 years - issues to start with but nothing too awful and very good since...)? Yes, 'fraid so. Pity.

And this is the problem now!!!!

KBH mentioned resale values & it's those 'off the cuff' comments that people pick up on.

The cars are on par with any other Morgan now.
