I'm sure this is true, and mine were both standard cars, apart from small things like a proper rear mudguard and a parcel shelf, etc.

Don't forget the sorted front suspension Paul. It looks less "standard" now with it's new owner by the way, saw it at TOTH.

Ah, the voluble Mr. Pellow. I had a chat to him at Llangollen where he was exhibiting the car on the Newtonwn Motors stand. He seemed very taken with it, although he had removed the satin black wrap on the cowl, bonnet striping, mirrors and body edges which I had so carefully and expensively had applied.

The purchase price is just the start of the costs of ownership. You potentially need to spend several thousand pounds for every 10k driven.

Out of warranty sprockets, bevel boxes, compensators, not to mention consumables like batteries, tires, oil, lubes, drive belt and cam belt, air filter, plugs and the endless amount of bolts and screws that manage to vibrate off.

Yearly insurance and fuel. Storage fees, if any (I do this).

I gave up keeping track as it is terribly depressing and in ten minutes of driving I forget all that anyway.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Sadly Jays it is not "A very pessimistic load of twaddle !" , I have now done around 15500 miles and confirm this is the case . Perhaps you should buy one !

I have to say that the first 10,000 miles cost me about £600 quid for the cost price compensator. Oh and £120 for the bump steer mod.
I did get some servicing done to keep the warranty up but now do all myself.
Im now on 18000 mls and I have not spent thousands.
Insurance is dirt cheap and I have a company lease car so no, no claims bonus to speak either.
The 3 W is no more expensive to run than many a motorcycle.

With regards to sprockets
I had a dural one made which has worn pretty much as badly as the original.
Interestingly it screamed like a bugger for a while but has been fine for five thousand odd miles. Its worn and you do get a little clunk from belt snatch occasionally, bit its working fine. Belt doesnt slip and im wondering if its worth changing the dam things as quickly as we have been doing?
