The spring on the clutch pedal of my 1991 4/4 Morgan has come loose.
Iam able to shift the gears but... is it dangerous to drive with it please ??

If you mean the spring immediately behind the pedal it's a straightforward fix. Without it there shouldn't be a prob in my opinion unless your foot rests on it, in which case the usual results.

Thanks for your reply...difficult to get to...i think the small clamp on the pedal retaining the spring is broken.

Mine's been broken for over a year but the clutch pedal returns OK so have just left it

I've got a replacement spring from Melvin Rutters but it looks like too much hard work for the Summer

I will get around to it this Winter

okè....i will check again i think the spring is okè but has come off the pedal. I can shift okè but have to do a rally in Greece early september so want it repaired

If the pedal details are pretty much the same as a 1972 car, pretty easy to get things apart and replace the broken spring.

It does depend on the mechanism, but the pedal return spring potentially ensures there is no pressure on the release mechanism. So the bearing and release fingers could get a bit of wear; or not.

So I'd replace the spring, but it may not be a urgent job.

Both springs have been changed...the total mechanism cleaned & greased so shoul be ok now.
