Here, obviously!

I'm now seriously thinking on pulling the trigger on a new XE. It would be the 180hp diesel, with the prestige trim level. As standard it seems very well equipped, so the only extras I'd add are metallic paint, panoramic sunroof & electric folding mirrors. I have a test drive booked for Thursday - as much as anything to check if it will fit into my parking space at work.

I had been telling myself to wait for the AWD version (due out maybe next year), but on reflection, I reckon that if JLR's ASPC traction system is what they claim it to be, then with winter tires fitted it ought to have enough grip for the few occasions in the year that I need it, when I go to the mountains & so on. The extra expense, emissions, tax (I'd lease it through my company) and weight of lugging the AWD system around for the rest of the year may just be an extravagance. Any of you have any experience/views on the effectiveness of the ASPC system ?

My only thoughts on the XE are based around sitting in the R-spec one at Zurich motor show last week. It felt really nice but with the seat set up front for me - the back wasn't a nice place to be - limited leg room and very tight headroom.

If you are looking for a comfortable cruiser then MB are doing strong deals on CLS220d in either shooting break estate or coupe form right now. It comes quite well specified in Plus or Prem+ options.

The 2.1D motor is not going to set the world alight but economy is super and it is a very relaxed car.

Only driven the 63 Shootbrake - but the CLS is a lovely thing to look at - and has some real design flair inside and out.

Sadly, the CLS is too big for my parking space. A C class saloon could just squeeze in, or a CLA or A class. I just tested the new A 220 D 4Matic this afternoon & was pleasantly impressed. Smooth, comfortable & nicely finished; it would fit in the parking space easy old peasy. Now that our kids have flown the nest, I'm asking myself if I really need anything bigger.

Giles. I have had a Jaguar XE for just over three months. It replaced an XF which I loved and I was concerned about it being a bit smaller and indeed being considerable slower than the 3 litre XF
I have found that in the back of the XE there is still a good amount of room and the people I have taken in the back, including my 78 yr old sister have got in and out with no issues and they say they have been comfortable in the back. Just need to be aware the roof does slope when getting in and easyish to catch one's head.
Performance now I've done 3,000 miles is extremely good for a 2 litre (180 diesel) and I have found economy to be excellent as well achieving over 50 mpg most of the time and on a recent long distance run just over 60mpg.
I am very happy with it.

Yes it is one that has tempted me too. My other temptation is the 250 hp Ghibli.

I admitt to being a serial Mercedes owner. The CLS Shooting Break would be my choice.

The XE was really good to drive, we tried the 240bhp petrol one.
But no dealer within 40 miles, so no deal.
