At £60k I'd be looking at a 3.7 Roadster. +1 +2 - just sold my Brooklands for less than £50K. No dry sump, but you can surf on a wall of torque - magic!

Cosworth is a great brand, no doubt, but it's not a deal clincher or breaker for me. The devil is in the detail. I want a fast 4, but not this one.
There should be a delete options list. Delete lights for standard Delete sound system Delete exhaust tail pipe for standard Delete domed cover for spare wheel Delete black window surrounds - Ugh - one of my least favourite options Delete 'Demon Tweeks' wheels for either Plus 8 alloys or wires Delete 'Demon Tweeks' racing door mirrors for standard Delete valance for over-riders front & rear and number plate box Delete hessian carpets for standard Delete alloy plating for standard leather trim Delete red chassis for standard galvanised - black underseal doesn't care what colour it is However - why not offer a bulkhead option in either body colour or contrasting colour - I could go for that. I don't mind the handbrake in a conventional position, so no preference either way. If it was an option I would probably go with a fly off. Revised soft top sounds good idea. Engine and rear end are OK, although I'm unfussed about whether it's Cosworth or not to be honest. So there we are. If all cars are delivered by November, there's hope that something may be offered on normal Plus 4's next year.

why the 'rush' to build all 50 cars by November?
there isn't even a running prototype yet .. don't they need to test and fettle the new suspension?

There's a huge difference between expecting all to be delivered by November and actually doing it. I wonder how much extra time goes into production - although I suppose that most of the detail will be contracted out. I believe that the Plus 4 SS which has tested the engine may also have this rear end, so you would hope that the bugs are being ironed out. This has made me feel unusually bolshy......... (Not to be confused with feeling Boshly may I add).

I'm obviously new to the forum, and don't have a Morgan - yet! I'm looking at ordering a "regular" Plus 4, which I expect will see very regular, almost daily use.
There seems to be a lot of dislike for this ARP4 car - certainly not from me though. It was said a few pages back that this is maybe a car for a younger buyer - I'm going to stick my neck out and put myself in that group - but that aside, I think there are some very sound reasons why this is a great car.
For the money, I would for certainly take it over a Roadster. It seems to me a fantastic and balanced performance improvement over the Plus 4 - with a solid engine upgrade, suspension detail and fundamental improvements (without going so far as character removing wishbones), brake upgrades and general usability improvements.
I've driven a couple of Morgans, including a Roadster, and to be honest, I personally did not get on with the 3.7 Roadster at all. The engine didn't seem to fit the car! The intrusion of the gearbox in the car meant it was cramped, and the pedals were so crushed up that the height difference of the brake/throttle was very poor. The gear lever was uncomfortably far back for me too. The engine characteristic didn't suit me and how I like to drive. It had too much torque for the car, and frankly I didn't feel I could work the engine and engage with it, such was the performance available at low revs. I'm used to quick, torquey modern cars, where this kind of thing feels right (and the chassis can deal with it effortlessly). But in a sports car I think some effort to extract performance should be necessary and rewarded.
If I could afford the not-insubstantial cost difference, this would be at the very top of my list. I say well done Morgan, and hope this is a sign of continued evolution (but not revolution!!).
I fully admit though that I don't see why the mechanical upgrades are not available as an "ARP4" pack, though, with all other options and spec available from the regular options list. That would be ideal.

Welcome to TM - I hope that you enjoy your time on here!
Be careful ...it is very addictive!!
The AR4 has had a very good reception - even on TM!
But there is a lot of experience and knowledge from many posters ( not me I hasten to add!).
And so you will read a great deal of detailed comment.
As you will have read many TMers have a like/dislike list ...all good fun and often very interesting!
