I have just ordered a new scuttle mirror for my 2011 4/4 from HoE.
The windscreen mirror fell off and I never really liked it.
I need to remove the windscreen to fit the mirror and would appreciate any advice as to how to do this. I can't locate any old posts.
I also wonder why I have to cut the dash padding away, rather than just use longer screws.
Any advice appreciated.

I don't have a heated screen, so i will leave that answer to someone who does, but the reason you have to cut the dash padding away is most likely to reduce vibration as the the padding will make this worse than it is when screwed direct to the scuttle.
I prefer the scuttle mirror and it is essential if you have aeroscreens, but it does create a blind spot as its around eye level, you might find yourself looking round it from time to time

Try longer screws first ,nothing to lose.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

My previous Morgan , a 4/4 had same mirror, don't recall any of the dash padding having to be removed..

Thanks very much guys.
Regarding removing the glass with frame, it looks like just removing 4 screws either side and lifting out the frame, leaving the alloy supports in place?
Then easing the frame upwards out of the rubber sealing strip and hoping that it is not stuck in with some type of sealant?

I fitted a dash mounted mirror once. I screwed straight through the padding with no trouble.
On Ruby's recent refurbishment, however, I reverted to a screen mounted mirror. I found that the lower placement of the scuttle mounted mirror tended to get in way.
YMMV.

Mine was screwed through the padding. But with the heated screen you need to make sure you don't break the heater wires.

The closeness of the mirror base to the windscreen may make it hard to get a screwdriver to locate?
A stubby may work, or a right-angles one. Phillips/cross head screws would make it easier than plain slot headed screws. No need to remove screen then.
