Hi guys the problem got worse so that it now cuts out as soon as you put any load on the engine. Typical no problem in first up to 6000 rpm. then in any other gear the it will cut out at anything from 3000 rpm upwards and seems to be related to the load on the engine. It will cut out earlier on an uphill road than on a level road.
It is now back with the dealer who are unable to identify the fault and will now presumably go back to the factory.

I once had a motorbike that liked to cut out now and again, turned out it was a loose battery connection, maybe worth a look?
Good luck

I had a similar problem on an almost new Audi A4 TFSI. It turned out to be a bad ECU unit, but it took more than two weeks for the local service agent to sort it. The total bill was almost the price of a new Ford Duratec engine. spend
Fortunately it was covered by warranty.

This is a Ford engine, the specialist is FORD. Have you tried to go in a Ford garage to get a diagnostic.

I DO hope we are going to learn what the diagnosis is. There, but for the grace of God...............

I had a similar problem on a motorcycle sidecar outfit. After dismantling the carburettors and fuel system and cleaning them multiple times I discovered it was a bad connection to the ECU. In a rather brutal manner I resolved it by reaching down unplugging and replugging the ECU connector after it cut out at about 100KPH. After that it never dared to do it again. I probably frightened the hell out of it.

Another week gone by: The dealer is unable to diagnose the fault and the factory refuse to acknowledge their requests for help. If this is typical of Morgan support it would appear I have wasted a lot of money. Any suggestions?

The car must still be under warranty.
If so I would start to get very excited with the dealer and MMC.

The job is not fit for purpose.

Quote the sale of goods act.

Be polite . But be firm.
Put things on writing - with deadlines for results.

Dave,
Any news yet? I'm sure many of us with late Plus 4's would like to know what the issue was.
cheers

Now been with the dealer for three weeks and still not fixed. I was informed that the factory suggestions did not work. The latest is to change the ECU. I am still waiting ... now getting withdrawal symptoms.
