I've just had an email from Amazon Prime with this heading and it reads as follows:

Clarkson, Hammond and May are back in the driving seat for a new TV series, exclusive to Amazon Prime.

"Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are reunited to create an all-new car show, exclusively for Amazon Prime. The show will be produced by the trio's long time executive Andy Wilman. On working with Amazon, Jeremy Clarkson said "I feel like I've climbed out of a bi-plane and into a spaceship." The first show will go into production shortly and arrive exclusively on Amazon Prime in 2016."

I must say I didn't see this alliance coming, like many people I thought it would be Sky that they did a deal with. What a coup for Amazon...

Those three won't be paying any British tax either, then?

Sky had previously sacked Richard Keys and Andy Gray for unacceptable behaviour so contracting Clarkson was always going to be problematic.

I have to say I have only a hazy idea of what Amazon Prime is but much as I enjoyed the old Top Gear I don't think I'll be rushing to sign up for it.

It might be on Dave before I die but I wouldn't pay for it.

Quick side track for those interested in Prime following this thread. I have no commercial association with Amazon but do use it as a customer.

Amazon Prime.

This is a fun one. Don't walk in without reading the terms. If you use it well it is good value but the trial is a bit of a git.

Amazon Prime gets you a series of benefits. You pay a one time charge (£79 as a guide) and they are bundled into this package.

Free next day delivery for many of the products you buy from Amazon (if they are marked prime). If you don't use the free next day delivery you get a "music token" for their store as a thank you. It gets you a new single as an example.

Full list can be found here.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201015970

There are several referral and discount codes to help you join, these can be found on the web. The thing that causes most complaints is the "free 30 day trial". A lot of people use it and trust that Amazons good brand name makes it safe.

It is free but you do have to give them the credit card up front. Unless you ensure you cancel totally within the 30 days it takes a full year up front and you cannot then cancel. It is not that easy to cancel.

The renewal is also a bit slippery....it is fully automatic and the default on joining is full autorenew each year so you have to remember to cancel this setting in the account settings.

Guidance on how to cancel here if you are interested.
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/sh...s-how-to-cancel

So if the thought of Top Gear on Amazon Prime does get your attention and you use the Interweb for shopping it can be worthwhile.

I hope this helps avoid some nasty shocks around Prime Trials.

Having not been able to face another episode of TG for the last 3 years I certainly wouldn't be paying for it.
