There be Morgans Down on the Farm

The rack on the back of a trad Morgan is, indeed, useful.

Two photos of Tarka carrying a large (25kg) bail of Hunter wood shavings. We take one or two of these down to the yard every week.

Irritatingly they don't fit in the bot of Carolines Mercedes E Coupe and getting them up on to the roof rack is not easy. Which is why I ended up with the unloved BMW Black Box.

At least it's the right colour so the pooh won't show. Probably will need an agricultural Tow Bar for pulling the horse box around.

There is very limited storage at the yard, no more than 3 bails per person...the farm is a proper working arable farm so not as much storage space as one might think.

So we have them delivered at home where we have a small "barn" for 30 bails. We are 1.1 miles from the yard so have to rake them down. I did suggest a wheelbarrow, that wasn't appreciated.

Yes, Mole valley sell their own shavings, but they are £3.50 a bail more, delivered and the "quality" isn't as good as Hunter.

Owning horses makes as much sense as a Morgan. Logic doesn't come into it.

Solution.......ride the horse up to the house, sling a couple of bales on its back and lead it back down to the stable....make the thing earn its keep!

Would be a night mare if you jumped to that decision. You have to be stable when doing that or else you might have to bale out.
