I am working on a 54, wondering if anyone has replaced the original brake master with a new style (two cylinders)?

Also, has anyone replaced the clutch master or do you just rebuilt the original.

I have a 69 4/4 with the old single circuit brakes, I have bought a dual circuit MC to fit as its a safer system i.e. if you have a leak then you still have some brakes.

Unless you are going for a 100point concours restoration the later dual braking system is much safer.

A 1954 car would have the remote reservoir mounted on the firewall, iirc?

Getting spares for these may now be tricky, try PowerTrack Brakes, they are often the best source for our older models.

I would strongly recommend going to the dual circuit cylinder , unless you are a stickler for originality. Not a simple drop in replacement though, as you must make up new brakes lines to ensure the two circuits are indeed separate.

or go for the Mulfab twin cylinders set up which is one of my plans for the winter!

Twin master cylinders for racing and track work , yes every time . For road work they are not necessary and add both cost and complexity.

They would also look very "Non-period" on a 1954 car
