Thanks TMers for your kind words. DW - the scar down the side of the van was old damage, we hit the front left corner of the Sprinter, the suspension collapsed so he wasn't going anywhere. Van driver suffered a neck injury and collapsed shortly after pic was taken, he was carted off on a spine board but later released from hospital wearing a neck brace. Gendermes weren't interested in hi-viz vests or beam benders, though I was breathalysed (only the one rum and raisin ice cream that morning) but they wanted V5c/ driving licence/ passport/ insurance certificate tout suite. Glad I'd got RAC European plus foreign use extension with Aviva. The Elise was taken to a nearby garage then shipped back to the UK for inspection. Tough little car did us proud

Even if #215 is irreplaceable, the new one's colour is striking! As keen as mustard.... Just call it Colman! Reg was S3 URT, (Burt) but my wife said looks more like Spurt so Spurt it is

Tough little car did us proud Ive seen enough piccies of crashed Elises to convince me that they crash well. Far better than I would have thought. By the way, does this re-appearance on the TM forum indicate that you are thinking of buying a Moggie again?

I often think of buying another Mog...but my wife finds them claustrophobic with the hood up and too buffetty hood down, just bought a S1 Elise, not a patch on the crashed car but half the price and a bit of a winter project
Considering the disparity in mass between the Elise and the Mercedes Sprinter we came out of it very well, the worst injury was suffered by the van driver but thankfully he wasn't detained in hospital. The n/s/f wheel of the Elise took the major impact, the wishbones were bent like paper clips but the doors opened normally and there was no intrusion into the foot wells. A handily placed concrete fence post stopped us from going through the fence into a field and took care of the o/s/f wheel and suspension. Upon inspection the tub was distorted which is just as well because I wasn't keen to have the car repaired after such a major whack. Probably got those deep sills to thank for keeping us safe.

Can't you ignore Mrs Easter? You are talking about an abstract theoretical concept

not Mrs Easter or the cakes it's the 'ignore' bit that is abstract, I've yet to test the theory in 33 yrs

Crikey, Glad to hear you are both OK. That looked a lovely car, will look forward to seeing the replacement. Hope the da*n van was written off too, and the driver should have lost his licence... But a French van driver in France??? Edit - perusal of whole thread delayed by call from bro-in-law - like the colour of the new one Richard! Hope it will eventually live up to your expectations... Must admit to still being tempted - but I need to see whether ingress/egress is possible first! would never manage it!
