Sorry to hurt your feelings but

has just brought me an ice cream while I sit at the PC . When we met Dad was overjoyed he hated the other one I went out with but kept his and mams mouth closed. It was like going out with his daughter he would tell me to treat June with respect and start his preaching to me . I am surprised I did not have to ask dad if I could have a good night kiss off her. She has limped about and knows I run after her , about 5 year ago her dad who is her favorite . Had a massive heart attack 16% chance of the operation being a success 6 new heart valves . I kept up her spirit by being the fool in her life making her laugh when she was down . Now going to eat my ICE CREAM
I've never ever had breakfast served to me on a tray - only you you old smoothy could pull that one, what a good wife you have - she's not doing that out of boredom..
Back to the airbags then

for my arse you understand.
Another hug on it's way to June.

No ice cream for me today however she did pop out and get me 3 bottles of Adnams Broadside (on offer at JSS 3 4 a fiver) and they slipped down effortlessly just before ringing practise this evening. I had been rejigging the spare room ready for the arrival of No2 Daughter SIL and baby Lottie on the 29th August for the week - brownie points accumulated today.
Interesting your Dad's attitude towards your treatment of June and rather quaint and nice, a good man.
My experience was a little different I was a bit of a wild bu88er in my youth and actually had two girlfriends on the go when I met Heather. The first one was semi serious and had been for a year or so, needless to say she wasn't the excitement I hankered for and met another girl and we met for odd nights out - some were very odd but it made a change. The first one my father and mother really genuinely cared for and she was wife material as far as they were concerned nice and safe - the only thing the two ladies have in common is that they are redheads.
When I binned her and the other occasional one(they had no knowledge of her) after being swept off my feet by Heather they were absolutely devastated and could not understand why. They saw Heather as a real threat to them as she is probably one of the most intelligent women they had ever met and very exciting company who lived and still lives in a world where everything is possible. They could not cope, unlike me that recognised very early on that Heather is very intelligent but see that as an asset as I don't consider myself particularly bright so bring hers into the gene pool and enjoy the benefits of a very sharp logical clear thinking woman. I'm a happy with managing high risk taking logic driven kind of individual who thinks well on my feet, and can convince most people to do something they don't particularly want to do as opposed to raw intelligence and books which is where she sits.
Long story short they couldn't condone the marriage as they thought it was wrong and actually said it won't last - so we took off to the registry office and that was 42 years ago and we never looked back or regretted it - it was far and away the best thing to happen in our lives up to that point i.e. family came along 5years later our No1 Daughter.
Their attitude towards Heather never went away I couldn't forgive them their ignorance to this day, although I should I know.
Life's a funny old thing and as long as you keep looking forward and learning from the experiences you'll never meet yourself going backwards.
p.s. If you work out what that means let me know John.
On the wedding photo that I posted briefly there was none of my parents(father dead 12 yrs since) and or side of the family present my No2 Daughter issued invitations knowing it would be a no show. More room for friends

.
The whole irony that he never got was that his first marriage lasted only 3 years and 2 children.
I hope June's dad is ok now.
Another day another hug for June..
