I got knocked off a recently restored bike on a roundabout a few years back. I thought I had slipped on a diesel spill and it was only after the young woman had driven off that witnesses told me that she had actually hit me and asked why I had not taken her details. I did not realise because it was a very gentle bump and I was looking to my left and hand and indicator signalling that I was changing lanes. None the less it was enough to spin me around and down.

We were behind a young woman at a T junction a few months back and she inexplicably started reversing into us for no apparent reason , really scary , I despirately started reversing ( luckily no one behind !! ) and she missed us by inches , then stopped and drove off - she didn't notice we were there !!!!! Lunatic or what ?? She was actually quite attractive but that shouldn't influence me .

I too, have had this happen ....very scary!
I think what happened was the lady was driving an auto and chose reverse instead of drive!!!
It's a worry!

Okay, so here are some photos. The front right wing has been pushed back about 4cm. This is to the front of the wheel arch from the outside of the spinner on the other side..... ...and on the damaged side There is a wrinkle to the inner wing and funnily enough, the top of the cowl has been forced forward about 8mm as there's a gap on the piano hinge The front of the bonnet is obviously overlapping the cowl I have to say I'm very impressed with the toughness of the super formed aluminum. At a glance the car looks fine. Structurally I'm sure there's no damage, but there's more to it than the "superficial damage" the twat in the Polo called it. There is a Portuguese panel beater & sprayer who I've used in the past who is old school & I'm sure can sort this out, but if the perpetrator doesn't start making the right noises I think I may insist on the car being repaired at the factory.

I wish the best success. Hopefully the aluminum will be tolerant enough for a recurve.

I quite agree Giles, what can look superficial, can be expensive to fix, especially if rental cars and car delivery one on top. Paintwork and labour to do repairs is pretty costly too. A drive off scrape to the rear bumper and wing edge of our Freelander ended up a £1200 bill, the police were notified of the incident luckily by a witness.
I wish you well, I'd you have witnesses your insurance should stand a reasonable chance to claim against the Polo driver.
Hope you have it sorted soon
Adrian

Does superform alloy allow panel beating when cold? It is a special very hard alloy designed to be plastic at a specific temperature.
With luck the deformation may spring out when the wing is removed, but if it doesn't then I fear a new wing may be needed.... 4cm is quite a distance. The deformation of the inner wing is also a concern, is the panel stainless or alloy?

Trouble here is that the insurance company is quick to settle without checking the facts, I had an experience a few years back when a lady about 70 hit me from behind, not a scam this, she was in that phase of Alzheimers when she got angry, I had dragged away from the lights along side her and she had a Honda small thingy so having got away she came round the queue down the road and hit me, as you say the car is tough, her canoe section fell off with some other damage, her husband was a nice chap not coping with the dear, As I had no damage at all I did nothing much else and this proved difficult when I wanted to switch insurer as they had this on file all from her side, it took a bit of explaining that I was in a traffic queue, was not moving and was hit from behind never mind that the Morgan had not noticed the bump.
So fight it all the way its your premium that matters, - me I know the hard way.
PS I work in transport and the best thing we ever did was equip our fleet with cameras, very quickly the fraudster scammers learn they had to avoid reversing into our vehicles as we had it all on CCTV, it saved a lot of our drivers huge bother on things before we might have sacked them for, - watch out the scammers are out there.!
