Talk Morgan Forums Community The Malvern Arms Pre-war Morgans??

Excuse me, but does anyone care to pull up a chair and talk about pre-war Morgans, particularly ones with an odd number of wheels. I've fancied the Morgan three-wheeler since the '70s and read lots about them, but never driven or even ridden in one. It's the sporty two-seaters that I fancy and I'm sure there's lots to learn about the practicalities of owning and using one on modern roads. What should I know? Performance-wise how would one compare with say, a 1098cc Morris Minor 1000? How about differences between an MX4 and an F-series? I'd be grateful to hear any words of wisdom anyone wishes to share. But first, let me get you a virtual pint to wet your whistle.

Don't know myself but I know people who have Matchless 3 wheelers and this depends a lot upon cams and settings, as you sit on the road you get a feeling of speed and of course you corner better, an F series would be a bit flat with a small Ford side valve motor, almost anything would be faster. A Coventry Climax 4 wheeler with 1100 engine should be OK and notably better than a 1100 Minor. The handling will be better too which is where the big advantage lies - unless you know different of course?

I do own a MX4 and a 93A but still haven't driven either. I did ride in a friends MX4 SS. But only at low speeds around the paddock of Sebring Race Course.

I did had a CC Series 1 (now sold) but prefer my current Standard Special Series 1. Seems a bit more aggressive than the CC.
