Morning all, I know it's been a while since I posted now, but reading this on Piston Heads set me thinking: http://www.pistonheads.com/regulars/ph-spottedykywt/north-coast-500-spotted-special/32683Those of you who know me, will know that I've harboured a lingering desire for an Arnarge... Imagine wafting down to the Le Mans Classic in one Stopping off for the odd and en route... Oh and probably at every other service station for the go juice OK, maybe not, but an interesting alternative to £30k on a 4/4. So, which would you choose.... silly question on here I guess
Philip.

The Arnarge is a fantastic car for very little money but it's just huge. It's sheer size would make it impractical for me for all but occasional use. But I can fully appreciate what a fantastic experience owning one would be.

If I was to go for a large luxury saloon I feel that a V8 engined Bristol would be my weapon of choice , somehow it seems to fit with the Morgan rather better. The Bentley is just too ostentatious for my tastes, I would worried about leaving it parked in public places. The Bristol is understated, and like Mogs it seems to inspire good feelings in non-enthusiasts.
There are at least 2 Morgan owners who have bought them , and comment about "surfing on a wave of torque" . I could definitely be tempted if I were to plan long distance touring holidays.

I nearly bought an Azure (similar in size) but ended up with a GTC. The Arnage is fabulous, but somehow unsatisfying. It's a 'conveyance' rather than a car. Once you've wafted for month, you get bored of wafting. Perfect for the executive who commutes in and out of London (which is what I used my Bentley for) as it's a fine place to be in traffic.... but for 'driving', I'm not so sure. The GTC offered both driving and wafting. If you can get into it and out of it in 12 months without losing a fortune, I'd say get it. Scratch the itch!

We were at South West Vehicle Auctions last year looking at a Porsche 968 which we didn't buy unfortunately. However a beautiful Azure convertible, one owner and with fantastic history went through, it was stunning. SWMBO was smitten and it took a lot of discussion to stop her bidding on it. Went for around £43K. It would have been nice to have but long term would have been a money pit I think, just servicing costs.

I went through such similar thoughts on an Azure I was looking at. It was also an inch too long for my garage which helped the decision a bit!
