Haven't a clue whether emissions had anything to do with it, the manifold and cat were standard focus parts. As my car was the development car for the Blacktop I did suggest to Rob at Librands that it made sense to route the exhaust on the same side as the manifold and whilst there was no reason why that couldn't have been done as all the mounting points and holes already existed for the opposite side it was simpler and cheaper to keep with the original layout.

My 2010 example had a straight through silencer,,,no baffles. The Roadster originals on Nero were baffled.......baffling! 7 Me too now Jays! If that's the case, what would be the difference between the standard pipe that has no baffles and a sports pipe (ignoring the manifold)?

If you mean the look of the silencers externally.......the sports silencers I've had...Librands and Melvyn's are slightly shorter and are round in section, rather than oval section of the original.

So if the standard one and the sport one both don't have any baffles is it just being a smaller silencer that will improve flow and noise?

I have a feeling that the bore might be slightly wider on the Librands silencer so you'd need a new tail pipe.

I have a standard sigma system which I removed after a few miles. I would sell it and you could easily adapt it I imagine, especially with a Librands 90 degree pipe.

Interesting
There must have been a good reason particularly when the silver top before it was all down the left
Was it to do with stricter emissions?
Stewart, just put it down to a further example of a chapter from . . . . .THE MALVERN MYSTERIES

Are they like the Midsomer Murders, without a single Mark being murdered?
With regard to silencers, I have not looked inside a Morgan one, but I would guess that the design is completely different to the Sports silencer, as this will no doubt, have a perforated straight through central pipe with sound deadening material wrapped around it, so no baffles at all.

I had a 4/4 and the silencer got rust holes not long after buying ( secondhand from dealer) They sent a replacement...stainless straight through but standard dimensions, from the MMC factory. The interior was a straight pipe with perforations to the outer section and no baffles. Sound improved nicely. I think performance perked up too....or did the new noise create that impression! I have read in a few places of people using a bar to "modify" internal baffles. Some even claimed to have done similar to catalysts but no mention of effect on emissions in next MOT!
