I'm wondering if we need 165/80 15, at least it's the standard size for a 4/4, which makes the offers leaner.

I think the Vredestein TTrack and the Hankook K715 are reasonable choices regarding the standard size.

CR6 ZZs are my favourite without doubt. Yes, they are expensive- but we are talking about tyres on a "sports car"- so I fit tyres that support how I want to drive 900 kg machine in a sporting way.

I like them in both the wet and the dry- there have been comments about them not " liking" standing water - my four wheel drive, electronic brained tin top with very modern tyres does not " like" standing water- so I drive appropriately.

Same with CR6 ZZ on very wet roads.

I have cr6 zz factory fitted on my narrow body plus 4. Great tyre they are very sticky and get quite hot. Remind me of my superbike tyres in the temperature they get up to. They pick up all the gravel they spray on roads these days instead of properly resurfacing them.....
Great fun on a clean dry bit of tarmac but not looking forward to replacing them at £250 a corner.

I also have them on my narrow bodied plus 4, amazing tyre. You can't put a price on safety.

Sorry boys but over the Highlands in torrential rain last year they were the worst wet tyres I've experienced.Admitttedly an exceptional test but two an a half hours of sweaty palms and not at speed either. Probably 4 mm of tread at that point. I won't be having them again, especially at £250 each.

DaveW, how old are the tyres. Could they have lost their suppleness.

2012. But at the time around 2 years old. Remember that few Morgan owners make a habit of long journeys in the wet, and it took that journey to reveal the characteristics. I was told to regard them as intermediates. I seem to recall that there's a caveat on the Avon site about extreme wet performance. Because we do long distances in the UK, I need tyres which can cope with all conditions and I'm happy to sacrifice some dry and damp performance to get good wet grip. The Roadster on Yokos is ten times more confidence inspiring in the wet.

I'm very happy with the vredstein t traks on my 4/4 in both wet and dry conditions. A huge improvement over the original continentals.

+1
I use the Sprint Classics rather than the T-Tracs, I prefer the tread pattern, but AIUI the compound is the same.

I must say I'm impressed by you chaps that use CRZZs on the road. I have never been accused of being a slow driver, and my engine is not exactly puny in its power output, but I've never had an issue with the Vredesteins, wet or dry they give very predictable performance.

I have Yokos on my Plus8.
Newly put on early this year to replace Yokos that were on.
Old tyres were at just under 4mm when replaced. New tyres have 8mm of tread. At annual mileage of 7k+ the cost of replacement at that depth is easily acceptable...why eke out a few more miles at the expense of grip?
I find them good wet weather tyres.
I prefer the added ability in the wet to dry weather performance as it is more crtical on wet roads....we do have a lot in Wales!
They are good in the dry and who drives to the limits of grip on public roads anyway?
The only " oofer" moment I have had was hitting a diesel spillage on a roundabout on the Windermere weekend couple yrs ago..back end broke away causing swmbo to exhibit here full vocabulary! I was not going so fast as to lose it and caught the car fairly easily. It did prompt the fitting of a rollbar though!
