I've done a bit of playing with Arduino boards, I'm currently wondering whether another approach might be to mount a full-function computer like a RaspberryPi into the car, then it could provide a range of other services like GPS and data logging as well as driving the temp gauge?

It was a joy to read your pdf text. I have not the patience or the skills to make a DIY. But at least I got a clue how it works.
BTW it would be great if you would share your solution regarding the sticking fuel gauge...of course later on if you have the time to do so. I guess the programming (if any) is currently not done in the optimal way and does not take into account a given non-linear mode of the fuel measuring sensor.
But that topic will be the stuff for another thread.
Is it possible to move all the replies (which are all so nice and interesting) of Cock's dashboard to a "normal" thread. I felt to have a bad conscious after posting here because the dashboard threat may keep "clean" just to share the pics of the boards?
