They are on the naughty list over here but I was wondering whether anyone has them in their garden? For how long?
The creosote debate continues - but I'm of the opinion that having been on the railways for 30+ years - and then re-used in a garden for 20++ years that another 20+ years of use is enviromentally sound (double recycling).

Anyone worried by the carcinogenic factor?
Their prescence on the naughty list here is our main concern.

Their prescence on the naughty list here is our main concern. If you don't eat them your risk will remain low.

I use them in several places in the garden. Believe it or not, new ones are cheaper than used.

IE not actual sleeper but similar. The free ones I have located are around 60++ years old. We are thinking of living dangerously and breaking a rule in Switzerland!!

I suspect you would have to eat a ton veg daily to ingest a signicant amount. Think it has to leach into the soil & get into the veg

In my last house I had the garden landscaped and a terrace was created using black sleepers to hold the banks back. They were extremely effective and, being black, almost disappeared from view.
