Yes it is a bit Ugh in the examples in the video, but with a bit of creative thinking re the final topcoat, you could get some interesting finishes...a bit like that expensive liquid mercury paint finish used on F1 McLarens for example.
As far as durability is concerned, presumably it is just like any paint finish?

The name in the background in the video was PPG , who are a a very name in automotive finishes , they do OEM as well as refinish. If they are really behind this, then I would normally assign it more credibility than usual.
However although not an expert on paint (but at least one contributor here is!) I am really not sure that this is chromium metal based. Heavy metal legislation on both sides of the pond has seen an enormous decline in the number of metal finishing shops , of which the highest number were chrome platers. These have died because they could not afford treat their residues in compliance with modern legislation , plus of course other H&S issues. What remains are smaller specialist shops who mainly work for the aero industry where prices are MUCH higher, and the increased profitability allows them to recoup costs for post processing treatment
There has also been a big switch between 2 different states of chromium. I may be wrong but I think it was hexavalent chromium to trivalent, and again this was for H&S issues (hexavalent chromium is a proven human carcinogen) . This also shut down a lot of platers who could just not afford to switch to the alternative technology.
Spraying a coating means that there will be airborne particles which are even more regulated because they can enter the human respiratory system more easily. The sprayers in the video are using masks and absorbers, but unless I am mistaken not full breathing apparatus with external air which would almost certainly be mandatory if chromium metal was indeed being sprayed.
As with all coating technology the secret is in the preparation of the substrate, even the best "bling" surface in the world will look less than good if the prep is skimped or not done very thoroughly indeed.
In short I suspect this is a coating that "looks like chrome" and "feels like chrome" (at least for a short while) , but lacks the long lasting easy care nature of the metal. I don't know what the base is (perhaps Deano does?) but my guess be a non-aqueous dispersion with a special grade of coated titanium dioxide, and possibly some mineral particles to give high reflectance (like micas in metallic paints)

I thought the video referred to silver particles? Surely though, this is not intended to replace traditional chrome plating, but to provide a chrome type paint finish on items that you would not normally be able to plate. So the durability would be the same as painted surfaces generally.
PPG incidentally is the paint supplier to Morgan.

I watched this on a U.S. Program this week. It looked like a real art form to apply ! Lots of stages and timing needs. Also liable to scratching more than real chrome. I think this might be what you watched. I did think  wonder what it would look like on an aero. But then I woke up from the dream. Chrome R8 Sorry don't seem able to embed the video link
