My'69 Kent powered 4/4 has all of it's drive-train,suspension,and chassis-frame painted with what I perceive to be a medium gloss black paint. I have owned the car since November, 1970.

Bert, I think yours is probably the definitive answer given the time you have owned the car, thanks. Black it shall be.

Could I just say it's nice to hear from 60's Kent engined 4/4 owners. Especially one from Kent who has owned his since new, in 1969! PaulG you must be an oracle of the model. I'm a novice but keen to learn.

I echo auster's comments, nice to have owned your car for so long Paul and nice to have a point of reference for originality.
By the way have you 60's Morgan chaps signed up for the Morgan Classic register?

I think the blue engine was new factory replacement engine not a reconditioned one. There for all sizes would be standard.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

My 1972 4/4 has a black painted engine. This car was bought new by my Dad in 1972.
I also now own Edgar 1969 4/4's car (POE 25G). A DVLA V888 search shows that it had a reconditioned engine fitted early in it's life for some reason.

My '75 4/4 has always had a black painted block. I couldn't help myself painting the head green when I went for unleaded upgrade.
