Hi Chaps I've been looking for an old-style AA badge for AGES which pre-dates the yellow background, and came across this today. The serial number dates it as between 1930 and 1945. It's in remarkably good nick and I don't think it's a repro as the reverse has the usual AA blurb about belonging to them and returning it, etc, etc. It could be it's been re-chromed. Does anyone know whether it could be genuine or not? I don't mind too much if it isn't the real McCoy 'cos I didn't pay a lot for it and I do like it on the Morgan.

I had one on my vintage motorbike, it was brass though from about 1926 period, as you say it could have been chromed, looks identical to the one I had, looks good on the car though!!

That looks very cool...and looks original to me ...with the numbers.
eBay is a good source or auto jumbles .
Well done
I don't do Ebay. It's taken me 6 years of hunting antique and junk shops to find this one. I have been told they go out the door as soon as they go on sale, so I reckon I was lucky to find it in a Canterbury antiques centre.

Coincidentally I bought one today which also had the "N" code. Between 1938 and 1945 apparently.
Thanks Stuart - that narrows down the date. Apparently suffix A-P ran from 1930 - 1945. I guess none were issued during the war years, so logic says "N" must be late 30's.

Alan, after a bit of mooching on the internet it seems that it is probably a 1938 badge if I understand the information from the website below correctly.
