I would think its a very clear case. The dealer sold you the car on the basis it was a 2009 model. It was advertised as such and the price you paid reflected that. If indeed it is 2007 then its misrepresentation, clear and simple. Give the dealer the opportunity to do something about it and make it clear that if he doesn't you will go straight to Trading Standards. Then do it.
and welcome by the way!
Steve

Sadly car dealers are car dealers, sometimes information is not passed on due to ignorance, sometimes deliberately. Hopefully it was a mistake in this case not a deliberate attempt to hide the truth. If they are a reputable dealer they should negotiate an adjustment in price to reflect the actual year the car was manufactured. They won't pay "compensation" as it's an admission of guilt. However, an adjustment to the price saves face for both parties. Good luck, hopefully you'll reach an amicable settlement without the need for legal action.

If it is a 1800 4/4 with spare wheel and mohair weather equipment you haven't done too badly, the only 4/4's produced in 2009 were Sport models with 1600 Sigma engine and flat rear panel without spare wheel
You might get a goodwill gesture out of the dealer (free service perhaps) but legally all a bit grey, ie was the car advertised as a '2009 4/4 ' or a '4/4 - date of first regn 2009' ?

Bertie 1, I do feel for you, it is often difficult to tell the various build years as Morgan change the dash layout quite often. As others have said, is your car a late registered, earlier built model perhaps used only for shows etc or was it a real case of being economical with the truth. My first Morgan was in the former case and I was, and still am extremely happy with the dealer as I was fully informed that the car was not registered. I am based in Norfolk, if you would like a shoulder to cry on or merely an ear to bash, do feel free to p.m. me and perhaps we could meet up to commiserate. Reg

Welcome Bertie1 To me it sounds desirable! I would be prepared to pay a little extra for your specification on a car that was perhaps registered a little late. Larger versatile engine and classic dash layout too. Good luck with whatever you choose to do but don’t let it spoil your experience

Yes thats the main point here...to enjoy your car ..which sounds great BTW, and not let the experience overshadow your Morgan ownership.
Hope it does not ...and that you get a result from the Dealer.

Not sure what all the fuss is about and before you all hang the Dealer what about HPI, if the Dealer HPI ed the vehicle and reviewed the Reg doc he is innocent of miss representation. Year or manufacture and year of sale is wide in the caravan world and i recall the last of the MG,s not going on reg plates upto 4 years after manufacture !!!!

Of course, any sale is two-way and buyers have a responsibility to check such detail.
Legally this is not the case, as the dealer is the expert.
Looking for another Morgan!

Hi Bertie1,
Please don't let this spoil your Morgan ownership enjoyment, you have bought into a fantastic experience, the car will not depreciate as much as any other car on the market and you (hopefully) get many years of immense pleasure from the car and the "morgan people". Life is short, enjoy it (and the car)
