You were aware of the time differences and the various dates.
In my case the dealer either "forgot" to tell me or deliberately failed to tell me. Also, the log book has been falsified as it shows year of manufacture as 2009 NOT 2007, which adds to the deception.

When you say Log Book, I assume that you mean the V5 document? Surely that only shows the date of first registration? If the V5 has been falsified, it moves things on from purely the dealer misleading you about the true age of the car and then becomes a criminal matter.

DVLA often have errors on their system. It took a while to correct the computer system to match the V5 as it had my Series 4 listed as a manual on the computer system (HPI) but was built as an auto.

The V5 showed date of first registration as 01/01/09 and yet the police computer system said 31/12/08.

And of course the DVLA data on the GTN's is incorrect too! That is down to Morgan though :-)

The V5c shows the date of first registration. It does not show the date of manufacture. The old "log book" was the same. The only definitive source of a build date is the Morgan Motor Company build sheet. Do you have this?

You seem to base much of your argument supporting the 2007 date on the dashboard. How do you know that the original owner didn't have the previous layout installed as a special order? Remember, Morgan, especially for regular customers, will make significant changes. I know of one recently manufactured car where the rear number plate mounting fitted, new, is from a 1986 model.

Making accusations about fraudulent alteration of a V5c is something that is best left to a solicitor, and not discussed here.

+1 on Neils statement above.

I also echo what has been said by others in that the V5 generally shows the first registered date and that in many cases, specifically for imported cars, year of manufacture can vary from year of registration. I think the only way that you should feel aggrieved is if you asked the dealer if it was manufactured in 2009 or was a 2009 model and were lied to.

Lastly with my mod hat on please don't make unsubstantiated serious accusatory statements such as the dealer fraudulently falsifying the V5. You have not demonstrated any proof of either this being the case or more pertinently that the dealer has had anything to do with this hypothetical change.

In view of the above I also suggest/ask that you do not name the dealer.

Difficult, I appreciate, if you are genuinely worked up about this but just enjoy the car, take a free service (if offerred) put the roof down and drive.

Cheers

Agreed this thread is in grave danger of getting out of control.

In the need for fairness for both buyer and seller we ought not to post anything else.

Over to the Mods.

No sugar and I think that just a pot will suffice. I can also offer either ginger nuts or Maryland Cookies.
