My understanding of this confused mess is that you must follow the regulation applying to the country in which the vehicle is registered.
But of course, the local Police may not understand. So, if in doubt, wear lids.

My understanding of this confused mess is that you must follow the regulation applying to the country in which the vehicle is registered. Doubt that gets you off wearing a helmet in the UK if you ride an Indian registered motor bike! Two and three speeder Morgans have toured for years, and I've never seen a comment or a photo implying the wearing of a helmet.

Many thanks all, I will do as in the UK then which for me is helmet on fast open roads and motorways and not on slower country lanes (where I guess there are less likely to be police!)

In Belgium it's quite logical. On everything you sit on, you need a helmet (Motorcycle, quad, tricycle). Everything you sit in, you don't need to wear any.

MOG42 - I live in France, and have driven through Germany & Switzerland in the M3W without a helmet. I keep one for Motorway driving but seldom use them. See you in Grindelwald!
