Driving home

Finally got round to taking a snap of Ben in the F-Type. He seems to have settled into the new wheels ok.

300 mile round trip with the top down. Managed to average 38mpg with mixed driving conditions. Quite pleased with that over all.

Interesting that you say that John. Anyone i've had contact with about the subject of boot racks have all thrown their hands up in the air with horror at the mention of 'spoiling' the car by fitting one.

I have to say that i'm not 'fitting in' all that well with the stereo typical F-Type owner....but let's see. Time will tell.

Boot racks are a useful addition - lots of MX-5s with them too... hide grin2
Not seen enough F-types to see one with a rack, yet!
I did fit one to my Mk1 MX5 for about a week - not just for extra luggage space, but for antenna mounts too. Unfortunately, the limited additional weight was too much for the lid struts, so had to prop boot lid open - what happened to the old MGB etc. type that were so handy?

I still have my father's old boot rack. It must date back to the early sixties. Probably the last car he would have fitted to was a Sunbeam Alpine, but it could easily have been fitted to an MG or Carmen Ghia....Those were the days!
It still has the original rubber suckers that sit over the top of the boot lid, although the rubber is looking like it's past it's sell by date! The chrome is still good with no rust. It can expand in width to suit different sizes of cars. It's a really neat little rack, but it's a bit too small for the F-Type boot lid. Cars have certainly got bigger/wider over the years.
Would fit nicely on an MX5 though.
