The speed at which the ARP4 sold compared to some other Ltd editions would indicate that people like something a little different even if some call it bling. impressive as it seems like all 50 cars were sold without a single demo drive!

Yesterday i have asked at garage Albert if the chassis was
galvanised and painted in red .The answer was yes.I wonder why they
could made 50 chassis not galvanised and then paint them in red.
the paint is certainly not so resistant to stones .

The word at Silverstone is that the chassis is not galvanised and the red finish is much more than paint. I don't really have a problem with the finish although time will tell how resilient it will be. I don't think polished walnut is bling -it's been around too long! Stainless wires maybe, but they are the most practical of the finishes to keep on top of, unless you have alloys.
Limited edition is great marketing and Morgan have perfected the art. No argument there.

Electrophoretic or galvanised, the problem is the same with all these finishes - the chassis is drilled after the coating is applied, and unless the cut edges are treated in some way, you will get rust starting where the bare steel is exposed.
The 'best'* way to do it, of course, is to assemble the complete car first, then strip it and paint/coat/galvanise everything once it's been drilled.
*Best in every way apart from cost of course - you'd be effectively having to pay for the car to be built twice.

That's the word I couldn't remember.......... And explains why all 50 are red!
Quote:
Process: A method of application rather than a paint. An automated system of painting on a production line such as automotive manufacture. Involves the dipping of the whole item in an acidic solution containing diluted paint (5%) which etches and applies the paint. There is no electricity or charge involved, and in this way is similar to electroless plating. Used most often in high volume manufacturing, where the same colour is used for long periods. Mostly used as a primer for other top coats to be applied. Strengths: Low cost, gets in the difficult areas of objects, uniform thickness. Weaknesses: Long runs of one colour, unsuitable for jobbing, limited finishes available. Durability: On its own 1 year. (always has a top coat) Cost: £5 sqm Health and Safety: Factory controlled Environmental: Factory controlled

Galvanising is done hot and distorts the chassis. This coating is done cold so the chassis remains more accurate so makes a better race car .That's the official line from the AR top bod.` Yup, but for a slightly different reason I believe. The bulkhead/firewall is now superform aluminium. Accurate to within very tight tolerances, which a galvanised chassis (misaligned by the hot dip galvanising process) would not fit...

I seem to remember another group of buyers rushing to get their hands on a new Morgan innovation, think they called it the M3W
Keith 2013 narrow bodied + 4 Ruby.
