POOR OLD Mr. Mog has developed a Tch Tch sound at the rlright rear of car it is a 99 4/4 Low line 4 seater.

Problem could be a broken pull off spring or a hub bearing perhaps, any insights?

Just now in sw France near Bayonne

Cannot get any assistance in local garages to inspect any ideas?

I guess you looked for a stone in the tyre?
Is the exhaust rubbing?
Is it speed related?

I agree, Check for a stone or nail ect in the tyre tread.

If it has wire wheels, check for a broken or loose spoke.

I had a similar noise from the rear of my roadster travelling down through France last year. (maybe it's France) anyway turned out the holding screws for the brake drum had backed off and the drum was loose. Wheel off to find the problem, tighten screws. Job done. Advice to service company to use locking compound next time. Hope this helps

There are many possible causes of noises coming from the area of the rear wheel, some are mentioned above , and no doubt you will get many more , because without more data it is a mite difficult to diagnose.

If you have wire wheels , make sure the securing nut is REALLY tight. of not the wheel can fret on the threads.
Is is possible (but unlikely without some poor maintenance) that the woodruff key in the half shaft can wear and allow some movement between the hub and the shaft.
There could be a wheel cylinder sticking on , which is allowing the shoe to rub slightly on the drum.
Is the handbrake releasing fully, if not the same symptoms as above.
Has the rear spring run "dry" and needs some chain lube between the leaves.
Are the axle U bolts tight? If not the axle can move very slightly.
Are the rear shock absorber bolts too tight and not allowing the rubber bushes to flex.

As andy says, check the brake drum screws/nuts, happened to me, both drums loose after servicing.

Took mine out yesterday and heard a tinkling sound from the front end. Stopped at the side of the road and looked underneath and saw a set of long-nose pliers sitting in the towing hook! Slightly worrying as she had just been serviced and who knows what journey down the engine they made before lodging where I found them.
