Thanks for sharing all your information about the fuel pump Matty, I am sure it will come in useful at some point. Was the replacement motor an easy job to fit into the holder assembly and did the electrics just plug in?

Sorry, just read it all again and it looks like you replaced the whole pump assembly rather than just the motor.

Yes I replaced the whole unit.
I couldnt find just the pump in the uk
I really cant understand how such large pieces of swarf get into the pump housing. The pump does have a very large fine mesh filter that sits on the insdide of the housing so these particles should not enter the pump or injection system.

I assume the swarf is from tank manufacture rather than pump break up? The pump or sender mounting flanges look favourite, probably machined after all the tank welding has been done. It should all be flushed out before installation but that all takes time, effort and so costs money. You would expect the mesh filter to keep any build debris out of the pump, no splits or gaps?

Yes absolutely.
Its manufacturing debris and it really makes you wonder if any QC is going on during manufacture. A simple step by step procedure would be all it takes
