Very sorry to hear this Dave. I do agree you have to be firm. I would suggest you ask them to lend you another Morgan to use -- that may concentrate their minds a bit on getting it fixed. Alternatively, if they have a another new GDI Plus 4 in the showroom just tell them to substitute the ECU with yours.

Hi guys the problem got worse so that it now cuts out as soon as you put any load on the engine. Typical no problem in first up to 6000 rpm. then in any other gear the it will cut out at anything from 3000 rpm upwards and seems to be related to the load on the engine. It will cut out earlier on an uphill road than on a level road.
It is now back with the dealer who are unable to identify the fault and will now presumably go back to the factory.
Seems to me like it has something to do with the movement of the engine/drive train. I've had a similar problem and it turned out to be a simple faulty cable/connector that changed position when the engine moved - only happened under a certain amount of load which also relates to uphill/downhill driving. Could be interesting to know weather a slow or quick increase of load changes anything - like cutting-out-RPM... also in different gears... Guess it could also be a bad connection inside the loom. Anyhow, I wish it will be sorted soon.

The dealer tells me that the problem was a faulty ECU. They have tried a test unit from the factory and now we await a replacement from Morgan.

+1. It always seems to take longer than it should though. Bit like my Fiat Panda......waiting for the main dealer to get it sorted....yet again! Had one replacement ECU fitted together with new ignition packs a month ago. The ECU was damaged due to spiking caused by a faulty coil pack they said. It's now badly misfiring again so I'm assuming the ECU is damaged. The fault lies in the wiring loom as the dealers should have known....I did try telling them!

Jay,
that is the problem with modern cars & mechanics they fix by replacing expensive bits. It took ages to track down my ECU fault on my Rover +4

I have just returned from 3 weeks holiday ready to collect the car and guess what!!!
The replacement ECU from Morgan did not fix the fault so they tried another and now the car won't start. So from middle of July thro to first week September...No Morganeering.
I have told the dealer today that blaming Morgan is not my problem, it is theirs, as they supplied a car that is obviously not fit for purpose and if they cannot fix it by the end of this week I want my £45k back and if that is Morgan support I shall not buying another.

That is dreadful  now because it won't start it may be because the intermittent fault has now gone permanent and can be traced. My guess is a wiring problem.
