Just wondered how many have experienced failure in the input shaft oil seal on the bevel box? It leaks oil into the NVH tray and into the inside of the car as well as underneath. Reading through the forum there appear to have been a few. It appears that they have to change the box as the oil seal is behind the output flange which is used to preload the taper roller bearings in the box, so if you take the flange off the preload is shot. This is a 4 month old car with 7,000 miles on the clock. If this isn't a one off and they haven't done a mod then I wonder how many boxes it might go through in the 30,000 mile warranty

It makes my 6000km bevel box stopped fleeing the oil after syntèse replacement of oil with mineral oil, so I continued with oil mineral 85/140 despite having buy redline shockproof 75 / 250.

I have had 2 fail, one at about 4000 miles and the next at 5250 miles both times the bevel box was replaced under warranty. You would have thought it should not be too difficult to replace the seal if they preload was known. There is a series of posts on here from someone in the U.S. who has totally stripped and rebuilt his bevel box.

It's very worrying that such an item is failing with such a very low mileage. How can we be happy that a replacement will be any better than the one it replaces! It's not like they are going at 60,000 miles! With a service interval of only 3,000 miles it's almost a service item. Hopefully they will find a more permanent solution. Otherwise very very happy with the car and would thoroughly reccomend the 2015 onwards model, just feel sorry for the early adopters. Will let you know how I get on with the box.

We early adopters have many more grin inducing miles on you newcomers while also adding to the Book of Knowledge! Seriously, despite everything like my compensator finally eating it, it has been fun! There have been moments, a few, where I seriously doubted my sanity. They passed.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

@ Mog42. Stop worrying, just enjoy the drive. We early adopters have been through much worse and made your 2015 better while having fun and tears.

I've had British motorcycles, always BSA (still have 6), since the 1960s. Its been a great preparation for the Morgan. Guess some of you know the later bikes and the preparation has not been as arduous. I find the Morgan challenge just a "normal"--that's the way things are Bub. After a 2 year ownership I still can't come up with enough reasons to drive it, its just a joy, sometimes frustrating but still a joy.

A question please to those with failed BB seals - did any of you fill the BB up to the extra level of the Orange vent plus, as opposed to the MMC recommended normal level plug? Just a thought that any failures might be the downside of enjoying lower BB noise when filled right up to the Orange level?
Thanks for any info received, as I am about to embark on a trip across France, Belgium and Germany and with a noisy box (filled to the MMC recommended level plug), was about to change oil and then refill to the top Orange level instead.
