From personal experience, I can testify that the handle can break... Cheers, BertR Yes, as pointed out earlier, the lever arm of the release mechanism is too short. After Trond Bråthen installed his revised release mechanism on my car, a gentle pull is enough to release the hood. Harald Not this Trond Bråthen, I suppose? He does seem to have been into heavy metal, however... https://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCIQFjAAahUKEwjfzM2FiNTHAhXIvBQKHfOXAQc&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FTrond_Br%25C3%25A5then&ei=8qvkVd-LGMj5UvOvhjg&usg=AFQjCNGSAQ_vqySWxHSf3_phdbPCfVoX-g&sig2=FsU-UxrxD9RipuFmom6Y-w No heavy metal, as far as I know. I refer to Trond Bråthen at Bråthen Bil. Harald P.S. I have no affiliation with the company. I am just a satisfied customer.

It's a shocking design Mine now works after two trips back to the dealer by dint of pushing the lever to near breaking point to release the mechanism
