oh, when i was 20 , a 911 was my first car after some bikes...and it almost killed me. Lost control in a bend on snow, hitting a electricity pole... with exact a frontlight...so just nog enough to really stop the car , but shearing one side "off"... even the roof was plied open and hanging over the rear hood...i had , Lucky, just some glass in the face. That was 38 years ago... and still remember the sound ! i had plied the steering wheel both sides up to the colum from bracing myself against impact. Must have had a very good angel... the heavy concrete pole was broken to the ground and 50 m further i hit a steel garden fence which was trown another 10 m further against the building there...
was to reckless, had already a few times a skid so i was pointing from where i came... drove also near slicks, no money for decent new tires.... grin2

McQueens Porsche was a very nice last year 1968 SWB slate grey 912. I love those 912 because they are very well balanced due to 90 Kg less engine weight. Your pic shows a well done copy based on a 911 even with a fake plate to match McQueens original German (Stuttgart) plate. Here is a shot out of the movie with the genuine 912 w/o such chromed fenders.

Edit:
Sorry for confusing, Belgiumbarry, you are right, it was a 1970 911S and with chromed fenders. I can't recall it but sometime in the past I read it was a 912...

A friend of mine in Welzow South of Berlin has his speeding picture framed on the wall in his garage, he was driving a Land Rover though not a Porsche. smile

Getting the Steve McQueen Porsche confused with his 1976 930 that sold for $1.95 million recently.

Porsche finished their cars in some great vibrant colours in the 70's, but this grey is nicely understated.

Sitting at my desk, have work load but watch Goodwood with one eye I found this video by chance.

Porsche 908 at Laguna Seca - which sound makes my skin crawl if not this...

Fantastic video thanks for sharing Heinz. The wail from that engine gave me goose bumps.
