I've had a few Porsches, they're very very good but…………. Possibly a bit boring compared to a Morgan.
Pretty sweeping statement there.
Although Morgan have improved the classic range, the development has been minuscule in comparison to the 911s development from 1964 until present day.
So what is "a bit boring"? An early pre-73 911? A Carrera 3.2? A 964? The last of the air-cooled: 993? Or the more recent 996, 997 or 991?
The point I am making is that I personally think the 911 has changed so much since 1964 that, at a minimum, you need to have driven each decade before you rule them all 'boring'. While I'd agree that modern 911s can be viewed as more clinical than hairy-lairy-sports car, the early (especially pre-73) ones are anything but boring to drive.
One problem with all porkers is that they can't avoid being viewed as 'status' cars , and many people get angry about them because of this , German and status gets people's backs up potentially similar to Mercs as a class defining car . Ok an upsetting thing to state but people do react to how cars are perceived , a pity I know but that's marketing for you.

I think that's true with the later water cooled cars, my German friend said exactly the same. However the older air cooled cars are generally seen as classics IMO with little or no status attached to them. Perhaps the older early 70's RS versions that change hands for hundreds of thousands of pounds to investors / collectors are the exception. I certainly didn't buy mine as a status symbol, I bought it because I liked the engineering, the Marque history and the driving experience, plus I had always wanted one from being a small boy
