Decided I ought to try to tape gaps behind seat backs, I'm very much a beginner on the spanners, took the plastic cover off, removed the 4 bolts as per instructions on previous posts, but the seat backs appear pretty immoveable, don't want to get rough and damage something, what is the technique? I see the backs appear to be in 2 pieces, does the bottom piece come off first? do the seat belt retainer have to be removed? Hope I don't regret starting this!!

Yes, the lower seat back slides down & out first. I found the sides of mine a bit tight against the side chassis rails but it does come out with enough jiggling. Then the upper back can be slid down & removed. I presume you've removed the seat swabs?

Seat squabs, and yes, they're the bit you sit on. Have fun, plenty of jiggling required as Bunny puts it.

Oops - yes 'squabs' not 'swabs'. Although swabs will of course be needed later to treat your grazed knuckles.

Removing the seat belt retianers is really easy and I do remove these to meake the job easier.
Just remember to pull gently outwards at the bottom whilst jiggling the bottom. Once you have the knak its easy. Give the top section a little jiggle also as it helps free it all up

You need to rotate the seat belt receptors downwards first, then tug the bottom edge of the lower seat back over these, it can the be slid down and forwards.

Got the seat backs out, at the risk of sounding like a moron I've seen on other posts that the bevel box cover should not be taped so as not to restrict access, which is the BB cover?

There are 4 off m3 hex screws and 4 off m4 has screws holding on the prop shaft cover, then it just lifts out. There's nothing under there apart from the universal joint at the BB end of the propshaft which has a grease nipple on it. You can't do anything with the BB apart from check the input shaft seal

Removing all bulkhead bolts first , from the boot area , behind the bulkhead.
I always find the upper part of the seat backs the hardest to remove, but as has been said , starting at the bottom bend the seat belt receptacles so they point forward then get the bottom part out first - I find it just pops out with a bit of furtling , then after , again some left / right sliding and pushing the upper part will pop out.
