A bit of info on the engine location. It sits in exactly the same location as the 2 litre Duratec so is not lower.
thanks for confirming

We discussed engine height in another ARP4 thread. The limitation is the bellhousing and you really don't want that sitting below the gearbox crossmember.

Does anybody know if there is any extra chassis stiffening on these cars ? There isn't unless you consider the bolted on crossmember for the rear suspension is an effective chassis brace.

Do the aluminium floor pans stiffen the chassis a bit compared to standard?

If the floor pans are bonded I would expect a tiny increase in stiffness but it wouldn't be much. If they are just bolted and sealed it will be insignificant. Call me a Luddite but I do like the idea of sitting on wood. Way back, a chap with an MGB ran over a piece of scrap metal in the dark. It came through the passenger floor like a can opener, and was stopped by the cross member. Makes you think. Trad Morgan seats in more recent cars do have a deflector plate at the front.

The photos are "stirring". I'm starting to like the red chassis. What about that!
