My garage doors face South, and this means that sunny afternoons cause them to behave like giant radiators, and the inside temp can exceed 30 degrees. A few years ago I decided to try some thin tongue & grooving board, which I stuck on one door with 'no more nails'. The problem with this was that I had underestimated the added weight, which made lifting the up & over door a real chore. I also had to prop it open because there was a risk of it coming down on a car. So I didn't do the other door, and used the wood up recently to build a vegetable box, which has won me loads of favours from MrsW............ It dawned on me that closed cell neoprene would be a much better bet, much lighter than wood, so recently I have stripped the wood and applied some neoprene. I used 'camping mat' from Blacks (the outdoor shop), which at present is supplied yellow on one side and blue on the other, although it was previously available in red and black. There's an offer at present which means the second one is half price. I think I bought about eight........... I've used no more nails to fix it after roughing up the blue side with a pointed stick. And this is how it looks..........

Hi,
I have the same south facing problem and I'm half way through putting some foil sided bubblewrap type insulation on with no-nails. It is very light and I just hope it does the job.

Dave, it looks like you've shut your Roadster's door with the hood flap shut in the sidescreen?? Surely not? Or is the door just slightly ajar?

I would recommend 25mm Cellotex stuck to the inside of the garage door (if not already insulated) Nice and light on the door too. Specifically designed to eliminate thermal bridges, The thinnest PIR insulation, Standard board size of 1200mm x 2400mm, range of thickness Easy to cut and shape, Low emissivity foil facings giving improved thermal insulation, High performance within cavity air spaces, Long-term energy savings for building
